In an effort to save money on gas, as well as lose some of the pudge, I've begun to walk to run my errands around town. Yesterday I left the house around 4:25pm and returned at 6pm. I rarely stopped walking that entire time, only at crosswalks, and the ATM that I visited.
I also almost run over multiple times but drivers who weren't looking. (Esp. coming in and out of the grocery store parking lot, or turning right at a stop light).
Leg #1- home to paper store- approx. 1.2mi
Leg #2- paper store to Post Office- approx. 1.2 mi
Leg #3- Post office to bank - approx. 1.0 mi
Leg #4- bank to home- approx. 1.6 mi
total : 5 miles
come to think of it, maybe that was a little slow. 5 miles in an hour and a half. 18 minute miles. Ah well, its exercise. I hope to keep it up. And save money too. =)
plus my mp3 player is my best friend. I found out a coworker saw me walking and he said "Where you on the phone? you just looked so happy." I replied, "No, just rockin' out to my music".
I'm thinking of getting an IPod or a Zen, so that I can stick my Japanese lessons on it and practice while I walk.
But it was good times for me even without it.
