My voting experience...

Ok, in honor or this election, and so that my opening post is not as depressing, though I just can't seem to get over it. I've continued on with my life, including my civil duty. This is the first time I've ever gone in to vote. (Those of you who might be raising an eyebrow and about to say stuff like "Asian and pacific islander are the least likely to vote- http://www.leastlikely.com) I have voted previously, just through absentee ballot because I was up in school.
Continuing on, on Friday I picked up my Dad, had my cousin in the car and we went to the Norwalk Civil service center and went to experience the new LA county touchscreen voting. After parking, getting inside, filling out paperwork, getting the little voter ID card to place in the computer, waiting in line, and voting, casting the ballot, my civic duty was done.

so why a post on something that would seem to mudane and boring?

because the excitement happened after. When all three of us were done voting, my father, cousin and I headed towards the elevator to head back home. Since there were so many people waiting for the elevator, and since we were only on the 3rd floor, we decided to just take the stairs. So we headed for one end of the floor, and saw a sign on the door which read "no re-entry, exit on the first floor". Fine we said, were were trying to get to the first floor anyway. We walked down the two flights of stairs, my cousin and I making The Grudge/Ju-on references on the way down, when we notice something. The exit on the first floor is an emergency exit only, with cameras and alarms watching it. So we go up to the second floor, door is locked. Up to the third, door is locked. We try to knock, but we know that we didn't see anyone when we walked down the floor. We don't know what to do. I keep hearing noises from above me sounds of steps, but no doors opening and closing. Now the stupid movie references are starting to freak me and my cousin out. We start pounding on the door and yelling for help. I'm about to run down and wave into the surveillance camera, when I hear something on the other side of the door. Finally someone heard us and let us out. He said it was a good thing he just happened to walk by because no one was working on that end of the floor anymore since it was past 4 on a friday.

we went back and took the elevators.
