Sitting in Silence

Sitting in Silence

When you remain quiet

Sitting in silence,

The clouds form

Thick, black and heavy.

The rain falls in buckets

Til' you're swimming through puddles

And you're grasping for air.

When you remain quiet

Sitting in silence,

The ceiling shortens

Metal bars appear.

The walls constrict suddenly

Til' you're pushing against invisible walls

And your heart's quickening in panic.

When you remain quiet

Sitting in silence,

The collar tightens

The lungs left breathless.

The tie barely unravels

Til' it seems you've been pulling for hours

And its rope around your neck.

When you remain quiet

Sitting in silence,

You're too numb to scream for help.
